The Media

By adar13
Now, I have seen that some else is already making a post about the media, but I’ve been planning to write this for a while, so I’m going to do it anyway.
I would like to start with a quote. “Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others.” It is from the book Animal Farm, by George Orwell. It truly exemplifies the media’s stance on Senator Obama. At the start of any program, all the major news channels on TV air a tiny segment saying that they are the leaders in election coverage and are unbiased. Now, if they’re all saying that they’re the best in covering the election, something must be wrong.
Also, how can they say they are unbiased and fair when the news anchors of ABC, CBS, and NBC all went through Europe and the Middle East with Senator Obama while not even one ever came with Senator McCain during his trip in March. And now, 200 journalists have asked to go with Senator Obama and Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson, and Katie Couric! If this isn’t proof of being biased, I don’t know what is!
I have heard the argument that the news is covering Senator Obama so much because they are waiting for Obama to mess up so that they can jump on him. They keep saying, “What if he trips. Then you’ll be happy.” Well, I’m thinking of what is, not what if. And when Senator Obama trips, they’ll probably say that he’s channeling the spirit of Gerald Ford, instead of John F. Kennedy.
In the end, I hope the people will vote for the prospective presidents because of their views on issues, not of which former president he is channeling.
Thank You,
Adam H.

Every product or show is going to claim that they are the best in the business. That is smart advertising, not proof that they are biased.

The media does favor Obama. But the media has always tended to be more left-wing, and so this favoritism is nothing new. Don’t forget though that when McCain was seen as a maverick he too was given tons of media coverage.
